The charter is one of a number of examples of good practice adapted by DAS from the Achieving Smoke Freedom Toolkit.

This toolkit, a collaboration between the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) and Action on Smoking and Health (ASH), was designed to help organisations to protect the health of employees and the public from the damaging effects of breathing other people's tobacco smoke.

The toolkit can be accessed via the CIEH website.
